Cape Town Graphic
Cape Town is blessed with some of the most incredible natural beauty. Where the mountains meet the sea lies the Great African Sea Forest. A unique kelp forrest habitat that supports a huge amount of marine life, and is a massive contributor to CO2 sequestration. Unfortunately we often forget that anything we discard, from the small sweet wrapper to the household detergent we wash down the sink, ends up in our coastal waters via storm water drains, ill managed, out dated waste water systems and polluted rivers. Even our marine protected areas (only 5% of South Africas coast line!?!?) are at risk of collapse if we don’t stop the flow of pollutants into our coastal waters. If we want to continue to enjoy this beautiful coast line, we need to become more aware that everything we do on our side of the thin coastal divide that separates us from our ocean neighbours, has a direct and lasting effect on their homes. Without healthy oceans we won't have a healthy planet.
We, the consumers, have the collective power to turn the tide on the current devastation that is happening to our oceans.
Eat smart. Buy smart. Don’t be surfeit people.
